Most homeowners never set foot in their attic. And honestly, that's fine - but someone needs to. Because what's up there directly affects how comfortable your home is and what you're paying every month to keep it that way.

When we climb up through that access hatch, here's what we're actually doing. We're checking every section of ductwork we can reach - looking for leaks at the joints, spots where insulation has worn down or pulled away, and connections that may have worked loose over time. None of this is visible from your living room, but all of it affects how well your system performs.

A small duct leak sounds minor. But when conditioned air is escaping into your attic instead of reaching your rooms, your system has to work harder and run longer to hit the temperature you set. That means more wear on the equipment and higher energy bills - and you'd never know it was happening without getting eyes on the ductwork directly. The deteriorated flexible duct connection we spotted at one of the unit collars is a good example of exactly the kind of thing that gets missed without a hands-on inspection.

This is why duct inspections are built into our maintenance plans. It's not a add-on or an upsell - it's part of doing the job right. Catching a loose connection or a failing insulation wrap early is a whole lot cheaper than diagnosing a comfort problem six months down the road when something has gotten worse.

If you're not sure what shape your ductwork is in, that's a pretty common situation. Most people aren't. Our maintenance plans include this kind of thorough attic inspection so you don't have to guess.
