Most AC systems don't break down overnight. They get there slowly - a little dirt here, some buildup there - until one day your home isn't cooling the way it used to and your energy bill is climbing for no obvious reason. That's exactly the kind of thing a proper maintenance service is designed to catch and correct.

We pulled this package unit completely apart to get to the root of what was slowing it down. Package units are self-contained systems - the compressor, coils, and air handler are all in one cabinet outside the home - so when they get dirty inside, the whole system suffers. You can't just spray the outside and call it a day. You have to get in there.

The coil buildup on this unit was serious. That thick layer of dirt and debris packed into the coil fins acts like insulation - except it's doing the opposite of what you want. It traps heat instead of releasing it, which forces the compressor to work harder and longer just to keep up. We flushed the coils thoroughly, cleared the drain, and got everything cleaned up before buttoning it back together.

The difference a clean system makes is real. Better airflow, more consistent cooling, less strain on the compressor. It's one of those maintenance tasks that's easy to skip because you can't see the problem from the outside - but the inside tells the whole story. Regular upkeep like this is also one of the best ways to extend the life of a system and avoid a premature replacement.
