Here's what a full HVAC overhaul actually looks like from start to finish. The old outdoor condenser was completely overgrown - vegetation crowding in from all sides, rust taking over the top grille, and an aging system that had clearly been running on borrowed time. The ductwork inside wasn't in much better shape. Collapsed flex duct, deteriorated insulation, and a cramped crawl space setup that was working against the whole system.

We pulled everything out and started fresh. Outside, a new Goodman condenser went in on a solid elevated equipment stand - properly raised off the ground and bolted down clean. That kind of mounting matters. It protects the unit from moisture and gives it the airflow clearance it needs to run efficiently. No more unit sitting in the dirt surrounded by weeds.

Inside, we installed a new air handler in the crawl space and completely redesigned the ductwork layout. The new flex duct runs are properly supported and connected, with insulation that's actually doing its job. The air handler itself - a Clean Comfort unit with a 3 KW auxiliary heat strip - is set up with proper condensate drainage and refrigerant line insulation. It's a tight space to work in, but the installation came out clean and organized.

What this homeowner ends up with is a system built for year-round comfort. The new heat pump handles both cooling and heating efficiently, which means less strain on the equipment and better energy performance across every season. When the ductwork is right, the whole system works the way it's supposed to - consistent airflow, no hot or cold spots, and a system that isn't fighting itself.

This is the kind of job that goes a lot deeper than just swapping out a condenser. AC replacement, heat pump installation, and ductwork repair all came together on this one. If your system is aging out or your home just never seems to feel right no matter what the thermostat says, that's usually a sign something bigger is going on underneath.
