Sometimes the original placement of an HVAC system just doesn't make sense. It might be cramped, poorly positioned for airflow, or just in the way. That was the situation here - the system needed to move, and we needed to do it cleanly inside a tight closet space without making a mess of the home.
Here's what we were working with at the start - an open closet, ceiling access cut out, lines being run, and Milwaukee tools on the floor. Not glamorous, but that's what the middle of a real job looks like. We routed everything carefully before the unit ever went in, so once the air handler was set, the install could be done right without shortcuts.
The unit itself is an 8 KW, 60 Amp air handler - solid equipment for the size of this home. Getting it positioned correctly in a closet that tight takes patience. You have to think about access, airflow, and serviceability all at once. We also added an APCO-X UV air cleaner at the base of the unit. It uses UV light and activated carbon to reduce odors, mold, and airborne contaminants right at the source. It's a small addition that makes a real difference in the quality of air circulating through the home.
UV air cleaners are one of those upgrades a lot of homeowners don't know about until they ask why their home smells a little stale or why allergy symptoms seem worse indoors. Installing one as part of a heating system installation is the smart time to do it - everything is already open and accessible.
The finished result is a clean, functional setup tucked neatly into the closet with proper connections and the UV cleaner glowing at the base. No wasted space, no sloppy work. That's what thoughtful HVAC installation looks like.
