






When a system can't keep up anymore, you feel it fast. The thermostat was reading 84 degrees inside with the AC set to 78 - that's a system working hard and losing the battle. That's exactly the kind of situation where a repair isn't going to cut it. A full replacement is the only real fix.
Here's what we were working with - an older air handler tucked into a tight utility closet with worn components, degraded insulation, and a condenser outside that had clearly seen better days. The unit was pulling its best, but the efficiency just wasn't there. That type of setup ends up costing homeowners more on their electric bill every month while still not keeping the home comfortable.
We swapped it out for a new 4-ton Goodman system - new air handler, new condenser, properly sized and installed for the home. The new air handler is marked and set up at 10 KW, 60 amp, so everything is spec'd correctly from the start. Sizing matters a lot with AC replacements. Go too small and the system runs constantly. Go too big and you get short cycling, humidity problems, and premature wear. Getting it right the first time is the whole point.
We also replaced the old thermostat. The original Honeywell was a basic analog-style unit - functional, but dated. We put in a new Honeywell Home ProSeries, which gives the homeowner a cleaner interface, better control, and more accurate temperature readings. Small upgrade, but it makes a real difference in day-to-day comfort and how the system runs.
The new Goodman condenser is sitting clean on the pad outside - fresh coils, solid build, ready to handle the heat. When a replacement is done right, you're not just getting a new unit. You're getting a system that moves air efficiently, keeps up on the hottest days, and doesn't leave you guessing whether it's going to hold.
